Testimonials & FAQ's

For your peace of mind

GENERAL FAQ'S

  1. Dr Thava will conduct an initial face to face consultation. You will need to share your medical history, undertake a full skin analysis, ask any questions and take as much time as you need to consider whether to go ahead with the treatment or cancel.
  2. You will be asked to sign the standard consent form. The form details the treatment you will have, cost, the fact that you have had a consultation and a cooling off period and that the risk of side effects and likely results having been explained to you.
  3. Before and after photos will be taken to check the pre and post results of the treatment. The photos will not be used for any other purpose and will be confidentially held in your client file for 7 years before they are destroyed. This is an industry and insurance requirement.
  4. Dr Thava will then carry out the treatment, first cleaning the skin, then applying a topical local anaesthetic cream to the area to be treated if required. Dr Thava will then inject the treatment area with Botox. The number of units used and injections will depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Dr Thava will have explained this to you in full at the consultation stage.
  5. Treatment times vary but are usually no longer than 30 - 60 minutes.
  6. Following the treatment, Dr Thava will explain any aftercare required. Botox has little if any downtime, so you should be able to go about your daily business as usual. We do recommend you avoid sunbathing, saunas and vigorous exercise for 24 hours post treatment.
  7. Full payment for the treatment will be taken.
  8. A two week follow up will be scheduled so that the we can ensure you are happy with your results. If a top is required this will be free of charge with Botox.
  1. Ensure that no alcohol is consumed for the day of treatment including at least 24 hours post treatment.
  2. Avoid direct sunlight/sun bathing on the day of treatment.
  3. Ensure skin is clean and free of make up and the areas to be treated are not near any broken skin.
  4. Do not take any Ibuprofen or such other anti-inflammatory medications at least one week before treatment. If you are under medical supervision consult your GP.

Botox injections require minimum downtime, therefore you should be able to return to your daily routine almost straightaway. Your doctor will discuss aftercare with you at the time of the treatment if Dr Thava feels you require additional downtime this will be notified to you. Dermal fillers will take longer to settle as the skin can swell and look a little red after treatment. This usually goes down after a few hours but to be on the safe side its best to allow two days before a big event.

Less expensive botox treatments and dermal fillers are more likely to be administered by non-medically trained individuals such as beauticians. At Avni Aesthetics you are in the safe hands of fully qualified doctor. We believe only medical professionals with a full knowledge of facial anatomy should administer these treatments.

Cheaper treatments may indicate the use of less expensive products using botulinum toxin or lesser grade fillers that may not be as safe or effective as the real Botox or superior grade dermal fillers.

Anti-wrinkle injections, if administered well by an experienced medical professional, should ensure subtle and natural results.

Dermal fillers can result in a more obvious visible change to the face, depending on the area treated and amount used. Make sure you discuss the results you want to achieve with your doctor prior to treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections FAQ'S

Suitability for anti-wrinkle injections will be discussed and determined by you and Dr Thava after a full consultation. As a general rule, treatments are not offered to patients who have certain pre-existing medical conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 21 years of age or taking certain anti-inflammatory medicines. Patients also need to have realistic expectations of results. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used on adults of all ages.

Anti-wrinkle injections work best on the early signs of ageing, when fine lines and wrinkles first become noticeable. This can be during the late 20s or early 30's. As we age, wrinkles become deeper and more pronounced and these deeper wrinkles and folds require larger doses of anti-wrinkle injections in conjunction with other treatments.

Botox is a prescription medicine and as there are risks including side effects that can range from minor to severe.

It is important to speak with Dr Thava about Botox injection side effects and to fully disclose your medical history prior to any treatment. More side effects and risks can be found in the Informed Medical Consent Form that we can email to you prior to consultation upon request.

Some people feel some mild discomfort. A topical anaesthetic cream can be applied upon request.

Each application of Botox takes around 10 to 15 minutes and the results become apparent within 5 to 10 days. The results should last between 3 and 6 months. If the treatment is repeated this time may lengthen with each procedure.

Botox is a temporary treatment, the effects lasting from 3 to 4 months on average. Treatments must be repeated at intervals to maintain the desired results.

DERMAL FILLERS FAQ'S

The first step in the process is to arrange a free consultation with Dr Thava.

During this initial meeting Dr Thava will discuss your medical history, current medication and complete a care plan. Having taken time to consider your concerns, and expectations, he will then be in a position to advise on treatment options and make individual treatment recommendations.

He will explain the risks associated with injectable treatments and patients can then reflect on what has been said and be given written treatment information.

Treatments generally take between 30 – 45 minutes. A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied prior to treatment to maximise your comfort during the procedure. The fillers we use contain local anaesthetic, making the treatment more comfortable. Following your treatment, you will be provided with aftercare advice and information.

Typical areas that can be treated are:

  • Smile lines appearing on the cheeks.
  • Lip plumping or contouring is an extremely popular request by growing number of women purely looking to enhance their natural appearance, as opposed to an anti-ageing solution.
  • Cheek volumising can create improved definition of the face that is lost over the years through the ageing process, giving sunken or flat cheeks. As we get older our facial bones shrink causing skin folds to appear. Building up our cheek bones using dermal fillers is an effective way of combating these imperfections.
  • Deep forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet can be treated using dermal fillers, however many patients with fine wrinkles are best treated using Botox.

All dermal filler treatments have the risk of temporary bruising around the injection site, swollen facial features during the initial healing period and infection at injection site. These risks are higher when treatments are performed in unsterile environments such as hairdressers, beauty clinics or home environments and by inexperienced or unqualified practitioners.

The side effects and risks associated with dermal fillers will be discussed with Dr Thava at consultation and written aftercare advice will be provided. Following this guidance is important and greatly reduces your risk of complications.

As a local topical anaesthetic cream is applied to sensitive areas before treatment and the filler products we use themselves contain lidocaine which is a fast acting anaesthetic, the vast majority of patients find the injections tolerable with slight initial discomfort.

Discomfort levels may be higher if patients opt for an inexperienced practitioner or use an inferior product.

At Avni Aesthetics we will normally recommend Juvéderm products because of their safety record and clinical evidence of their effectiveness, supported by the fact they are FDA approved. Additionally, Juvéderm products include lidocaine which is an anaesthetic for patient’s comfort during treatment.

We would always recommend that patients use FDA-approved products as this ensures that they have undergone rigorous testing for their safety and effectiveness, and that patients are treated by fully qualified and experienced practitioners.

Typically most fillers last around six to nine months, with the exact time depending on the area applied and the individual patient, as some patients’ bodies break down the fillers faster than others. Juvéderm Ultra lasts up to 1 year and Juvéderm Voluma, which is a volumising filler, typically lasts 18 months.

The cost of dermal fillers starts from £399. The exact cost of fillers for each patient will be determined at consultation as Dr Thava will need to determine the most suitable filler and the number of areas being treated.

Hyperhidrosis FAQ'S

Severe underarm perspiration is a serious problem for approximately 1.4% of all adults, affecting both men and women. Its formal name is severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis and it is caused by overactive sweat glands, which cause the level of sweating to significantly exceed the body’s normal requirements for temperature regulation. It can have a distressing and inconvenient impact on daily life, but, despite this, many people never seek treatment, which is unfortunate because there are solutions available. One of these solutions is Botox, which is applied via injections to the problem area to reduce the productivity of the body’s sweat glands and thus the amount of sweat expelled.

When injected under the arms, Botox blocks chemical signals from the nerves and reduces stimulation of the sweat glands, which in turn reduces the production of sweat.

The needle used is very fine, which minimises discomfort, and only about 15 injections are required. Within 4 weeks, a significant reduction in underarm sweating should become apparent.

Botox is a temporary treatment, the effects lasting from 3 to 4 months on average. Treatments must be repeated at intervals to maintain the desired results.

testimonials

I’ve had Botox before, but a friend recommended Dr Thava and I’m really impressed with the whole experience. He was very professional, but also really friendly and took the time to understand what I wanted to achieve. I had 3 areas and it looks great, have already been for my 2 week review and it was really nice to talk through the results and plan what else I want next time!
